Miss you always

On the 1st April 2005, my son Martin left home at 6.00pm on his way to play with friends. He crossed the road outside our house. He always followed all the proper road safety rules taught in school and so I’m certain this day was no different. The traffic lights changed red to green whilst Martin was still crossing the road. A motorbike, seeing the lights change, overtook the stationary taxi waiting at the lights. The motorbike hit Martin. Martin was thrown 40 feet across the road. He died in hospital. Martin was just 14. Martin has a twin brother Michael who misses Martin more than words can say. On Christmas morning this year, Michael didn’t want to open any presents. He said it was because Martin wasn’t there to help him. Martin was taken from us ten months ago and it still feels like it was just yesterday. The memory of seeing Martin laying there in the hospital will stay with me always. We miss him so much.
